The Department of Surgery at the University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is seeking an Acute Care Surgeon to join our growing academic Acute Care Surgery practice in Buffalo, New York.
This full-time faculty position offers an exciting opportunity to practice in a dynamic academic environment focused on Emergency General Surgery (EGS) and Surgical Critical Care, while contributing to surgical education, research, and clinical excellence.
Clinical & Academic Opportunities
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care for patients with urgent and emergent surgical conditions and critically ill surgical patients. Responsibilities and opportunities include:
- Emergency General Surgery consultation and operative management
- Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) care
- Management of complex and critically ill surgical patients
- Teaching and mentoring general surgery residents, fellows, and medical students
- Participation in clinical research, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and opportunities for academic and program development
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must possess:
- An MD, DO, or equivalent degree
- Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Acute Care Surgery or Surgical Critical Care
- Eligibility for New York State medical licensure
- Strong clinical, communication, and teaching skills
