- Open-Rank Professor of the Practice, Finance
Description
The Department of Finance in the Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track open-rank Professor of the Practice position.
Position Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality instruction in finance at the undergraduate and graduate (MBA) levels.
Teach courses across multiple delivery formats, including both in-person and online instruction.
Leverage professional and industry experience to connect academic concepts with current practices, trends, and developments in financial markets.
Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners to expand experiential learning, professional networking, and career-development opportunities for students.
Engage with and support student finance organizations, activities, and other opportunities that enhance students’ academic and professional development.
Contribute to the academic and professional mission of the Department of Finance and Poole College of Management through service, industry engagement, and collaboration with faculty and staff.
Professors of the Practice typically teach three course sections (nine credit hours) per semester. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, student engagement, and the connection between academic learning and professional practice.
Faculty rank and compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, professional experience, and credentials.
The anticipated start date is August 16, 2027.
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Demonstrated expertise in all subfields of finance will be considered including Investments, Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management, or other related areas of Finance.
Ability to teach Finance courses at both the undergraduate and graduate (MBA) levels.
Strong professional or industry experience relevant to finance and capital markets.
Ability to translate industry experience and current practices into effective classroom instruction.
Strong communication, collaboration, and student engagement skills.
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with industry partners and finance professionals.
Commitment to departmental and college service.
The following skills & qualifications are preferred, but not required:
Advanced degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a closely related field.
Significant professional experience in Corporate Finance, Investments, Capital Markets, Portfolio Management, or related areas.
Prior experience teaching Finance courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
Demonstrated ability to build industry partnerships and experiential learning opportunities for students.
Relevant professional certifications or credentials, such as the CFA designation.
