OHSU Administrative Fellowship 2027-2028
Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is pleased to announce that it is seeking two (2) Administrative Fellows for July 2027. This one-year Administrative Fellowship Program in Portland, Oregon will provide qualified candidates with the opportunity to explore the management and operation of OHSU Healthcare and the OHSU Knight Cancer Group.
As a nationally distinguished research university dedicated to the advancement of health sciences, OHSU is strategically positioned to focus on discoveries to prevent and cure disease(s), on education that prepares physicians, dentists, nurses, and other health professionals for the dynamic health care environment, and on patient care that incorporates the latest advancements. OHSU is a 704-bed hospital system with more than 22,000 employees and operates the top ranked adult and children’s hospitals in the state.
Description and Structure:
Projects will be determined based on both the needs of the organization and the interests of the fellow. This flexible, project-based structure allows the fellow to gain cross-functional experience, contribute meaningfully to institutional objectives, and tailor their learning to their professional development goals.
OHSU Healthcare Fellow
Under the direction of the Chief Ambulatory Officer, one fellow will participate in executive-level projects, management of decision-making processes and strategy development that span the adult hospital, adjacently located children’s hospital, community hospital partnerships, community clinics, ambulatory services, and medical group.
OHSU Knight Cancer Group Fellow
Under the direction of the OHSU Knight Cancer Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Administrative Fellow will lead cancer-focused executive projects and support strategic planning, decision-making, and operations across the Vista Pavilion, cancer clinics, hospital partnerships, ambulatory services and financial initiatives.
Application Timeline:
You must submit your application on the National Administrative Fellowship Centralized Application Service (NAFCAS) by September 10th, 2026.
The selection process will consist of three rounds of interviews. Additional details will be shared with applicants who are selected to move forward in the process.
Offers will be extended in October 2026.

Requirements
Functions & Duties:
- Contribute to the work of administrative units across OHSU Healthcare & OHSU Knight Cancer Group
- Build a broad range of healthcare management, administrative and leadership skills
- Seek ways to continuously improve processes and outcomes
- Enhance professional development through participation in a variety of activities to promote growth
- Understand healthcare reform and its importance to strategic planning and execution
Qualifications:
Interested candidates should have conferred an MHA/MHSA/MBA/MPH/related degree from an accredited (CAHME/AUPHA preferred) program by June of the following application window. Candidates in their final year where a formal residency/fellowship is required will also be considered. Additionally, prospective fellows should exhibit the following qualities and behaviors:
- Desire to be challenged at a high level
- Flexible and comfortable with both autonomous and team-based efforts
- Ability to effectively deal with ambiguity
- Service oriented
- Excellent written and communication skills
- High level of energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm
- Interest in the management and operation of an academic medical center
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. as OHSU is not able to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
