About Ur-Energy

Ur-Energy is a U.S. uranium mining company that operates the Shirley Basin and Lost Creek in-situ recovery mines in Wyoming. It's listed on both the NYSE American and the TSX. We're growing, and we're looking for a hands-on Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting for the company.

The Role

The Controller is a leader within the accounting and finance function. That covers the monthly close, SEC and Canadian filings, SOX/ICFR compliance, budgeting, tax compliance and stock compensation. You'll work with the accounting team, work closely with external auditors and consultants, and handle technical accounting research and new policies. The deadlines are firm, so strong organization and follow-through matter.

What You'll Do

Monthly Close & Controls

• Manage accounting and finance activities and team members
• Oversee the monthly close, including preparing and reviewing journal entries
• Work with external auditors
• Oversee SOX compliance, including IT and entity-level controls, working with SOX control consultants
• Research new accounting guidance and put it into practice

Quarterly & Annual Reporting

• Prepare quarterly accounting memos and disclosure checklists
• Prepare Forms 10-Q and 10-K, and assist with other SEC filings
• Coordinate XBRL tagging and filing with outside providers
• Support Board reporting and special projects

Budgeting

• Prepare budget worksheets and maintain annual budgets in the general ledger system

Stock Compensation

• Prepare equity grant notifications and related calculations
• Maintain and report from the Shareworks equity administration platform
• Complete monthly TSX Form 1 filings, plus SEDI and SEC Forms 3 and 4 for insiders

Tax & Treasury

• Keep the company compliant with property, severance, sales and use tax and other government reporting
• Work with outside income tax consultants and review the provisions and returns they prepare
• Manage bank accounts, wire transfers and check signing
• Back up the Financial Accounting Manager, including Paychex payroll processing

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA a plus)
• Active CPA license in Wyoming or Colorado, in good standing
• 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting and tax
• Hands-on SEC reporting experience (10-Q/10-K)
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, the COSO framework, ICFR and SOX
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred)
• Mining, construction or similar industry experience
• A track record of process improvement (for example, lean methods) and project management
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and good judgment with confidential information
• Clear, effective communication with executives, auditors and staff at every level
• Maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, management, and all departments, while collaborating and communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
