Baystate Health – Springfield, Massachusetts
Baystate Health, western Massachusetts’ premier integrated healthcare system and home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School-Baystate, is seeking a fellowship-trained Colorectal Surgeon to join our expanding Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an early-career colorectal surgeon (approximately 2–10 years from training) who is looking to build a thriving academic and clinical practice while helping shape the future growth of a well-established division. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders.

Become part of a high-volume colorectal surgery practice caring for patients with the full spectrum of colorectal disease, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, benign anorectal disorders, and pelvic floor conditions. - Advanced Minimally Invasive & Robotic Surgery Program
Practice at a system that is committed to innovation and surgical excellence. Baystate Health offers access to three robotic surgical platforms, providing opportunities to further develop expertise in robotic and minimally invasive colorectal procedures. - Mentorship and Professional Development
Work alongside an experienced team of three fellowship-trained colorectal surgeons and a dedicated advanced practice provider. Benefit from strong mentorship and collaboration while building your own subspecialty interests and clinical niche. - Academic and Teaching Opportunities
As the academic medical center for western Massachusetts and the regional campus of UMass Chan Medical School, Baystate offers robust opportunities for resident and medical student teaching, curriculum development, and scholarly activity. Faculty appointment opportunities are available commensurate with experience. - Comprehensive Multidisciplinary Support
Collaborate closely with gastroenterology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pelvic floor specialists, and a strong regional cancer program to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.
Practice Details
- Full-time, 1.0 FTE position
- Join a team of 3 Colorectal Surgeons and 1 Advanced Practice Provider
- Equitable shared call schedule (currently anticipated 1:4)
- Practice across Baystate Medical Center and affiliated community sites

Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
- Interest and expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery preferred.
- Interest in pelvic floor disorders and inflammatory bowel disease welcomed.
- Eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts.
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, collaboration, and surgical education
Compensation: $375,000-$515,000
The compensation ranges in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
