Description
Beth Israel Lahey Health Medical Group (BILHMG) seeks an exceptional physician executive to lead its specialty care enterprise, driving clinical excellence, physician engagement, system integration, and sustainable growth across a complex regional health system. Reporting to the President of BILH Medical Group, the CMO-SC is accountable for quality, safety, patient experience, workforce engagement, and growth, while partnering across Beth Israel Lahey Health to strengthen specialty care integration, referral networks, and service line development. The position includes an active clinical practice commitment of 0.25 cFTE.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Quality
- Lead the specialty care clinical enterprise, ensuring excellence in quality, safety, patient experience, and outcomes.
- Promote evidence-based care, clinical innovation, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and mentor specialty physician leaders and medical directors.
Strategic Partnerships & System Integration
- Collaborate with Community Division CMOs, BIDMC, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, HMFP, and system leadership to align specialty care strategy and performance.
- Advance referral networks, service line growth, and coordinated care delivery across the BILH system.
- Represent specialty care in enterprise leadership, governance, and planning forums.
Physician & APP Workforce Leadership
- Lead recruitment, retention, engagement, leadership development, and succession planning for specialty physicians and APPs.
- Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, professional growth, and caregiver well-being.
Compensation, Growth & Financial Stewardship
- Partner with executive leadership on physician compensation strategy, business development, and service line expansion.
- Support specialty growth initiatives, ambulatory development, and value-based care performance.
- Contribute to financial planning, operational optimization, and resource allocation.
Qualifications
- MD or DO with Massachusetts licensure (or eligibility).
- Board certification in a relevant specialty and active clinical practice (0.25 cFTE).
- 7-10+ years of clinical practice experience.
- Significant senior physician leadership experience within a complex health system, medical group, or specialty practice.
- Experience leading physician and APP recruitment, engagement, and performance initiatives.
- Demonstrated success in quality improvement, physician compensation, service line development, and strategic growth.
- Experience working across community and academic healthcare environments preferred.
- MBA, MHA, or advanced leadership training preferred.
Pay Range:
$300,000.00 USD - $337,500.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for additional compensation, which may include performance-based incentive bonuses.
