Overview of Division/Department

The Structured Finance team is responsible for the origination, credit execution and ongoing management of lease financing programs, including shipping and aviation finance. The team is expected to identify financing structures, assess and structure new deals, manage due diligence, negotiate deal terms and conditions, & execute and monitor structured financing transactions in Asia Pacific.

Job Responsibilities
Key Role Responsibilities:

EXECUTION

• Lead deals end-to-end from origination to execution, including financial modeling, preparation and presentation of deal memos, credit applications, legal documentation negotiation and execution of transactions to reach financial close and funding.
• Build financial models to evaluate performance under various operating scenarios and analyze the effects of varied capital structures including both debt and operating lease solutions for leasing companies, shipping companies and airlines.
• Develop recommendations for the appropriate course of action and prepare credit submissions.
• Complete periodical customer reviews, amendment requests and review legal documentation using methodologies relevant for leasing, shipping and aviation.

MARKETING

• Develop top notch marketing materials and pitch-books for clients offering creative solutions, industry papers, business proposals, coordinating investor feedback, managing third party consultants and ad-hoc updates on an ongoing basis.
• Liaise with internal Mizuho relationship managers as regards to new opportunities and actively support marketing efforts.
• Assist with client relationship management by efficiently addressing client requirements and contributing to cross sell activities (i.e. running Client Profitability Models). Maximize customer profitability by providing innovative financing solutions.
• Cross-sell other financial products and solutions, e.g. swaps.

3. RELATIONSHIPS

• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders and build relationships.
• Build client relationships across markets through mandated transactions and client pitches.

TEAM / PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT/ INTERNAL

• Be a proactive and supportive team member, train junior team members.
• Communicate well.
• Prepare and compile reports for senior management on a periodic and on an ad-hoc basis, includes credit facility return metrics, relationship return metrics, risk limits and annual budgeting / tracking for leasing, shipping and aviation transactions.
• Always adhere to all Mizuho's compliance and internal policies.

ESG

• Contribute to building the Mizuho ESG brand in APAC Asset based finance.

Job Requirements

• 5 -15 years of professional work experience in leasing, shipping or aviation finance.
• Strong credit, structuring, and financial analysis skills.
• Knowledge of Capital Markets products.
• Self-motivated, results focused, team player with strong learning ability.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous banking or private equity experience preferred.
• Having an MBA, CFA or CPA designation will be advantageous.
