Additionally, for 1919ic’s clients who are individuals and families, the firm adds significant value through the advice on the interrelated financial issues of investment strategy, liquidity management and generational and financial planning.
With 135 employees, 1919ic serves its clients from seven offices in Baltimore, Birmingham, Cincinnati, New York City, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Vero Beach. 1919ic’s median client relationship is $ 10 – 15 million of investable assets managed by the Firm.
POSITION
The Portfolio Manager has seasoned investment acumen and leads individual, family, endowment and not-for-profit client relationships. The Portfolio Manager:
§ Reports to the head of the New York City office;
§ Understands and manages to each client’s specific values and goals;
§ Builds, manages and oversees single and multi-asset class investment security portfolios within Firm guidance and parameters;
§ Leverages firm capabilities to deliver other wealth services including financial, estate, trust and tax planning;
§ Assumes a portion of the client book of a retiring Portfolio Manager.
AREAS of RESPONSIBILITY
As a 1919ic Portfolio Manager, this position will:
§ Manage single and multi-asset class investment portfolios for high-net-worth individuals, multi-generational families, institutions, endowments and not-for-profit organizations using appropriate securities/vehicles in accordance with Firm guidance and each client's investment policy and preferences;
§ Assess clients' investment needs and preferences (including cash flow, tax, SRI, philanthropic interests and financial/estate planning) and define, construct and implement the appropriate investment strategy;
§ Lead the investment expertise of the client relationship;
§ Works closely with other professionals throughout the firm to bring specific and relevant expertise to bear on client matters;
§ Manage each client relationship to build rapport and to satisfy the client's needs and work closely with other advisors;
§ Collaborate with colleagues focused on business development by referring appropriate prospects from intermediaries and participating in sales presentations;
§ Interface effectively with Portfolio Associates and Investment Associates in managing portfolios and client relationships;
§ Manage assets for a group of clients;
§ Develop new business through additions and referrals from existing clients;
§ Develop new business through third parties and other sources;
§ Deliver a consistent firm service by being a team player and employing the firm’s best practices.
Requirements
EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES
The candidate will possess the following experiences and attributes:
§ +10 years of comprehensive investment experience with strong equity, fixed income and asset allocation background;
§ High level of expertise and familiarity with the markets and the range of securities and solutions present in today’s marketplace;
§ Specific experience required in managing investment portfolios and selecting security investments;
§ Excellent client service, communication and interpersonal skills;
§ Successful history and desire to participate in new client development;
§ Experienced sole contributor;
§ Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook;
§ Familiarity with market data systems; familiarity with Salesforce or CRM maintenance in general;
§ Working knowledge of SS&C/Advent trading and portfolio management products is preferred but not required;
§ Working knowledge and competency with various analytical tools, including FactSet, Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, Power BI, Excel Statistical and Data Functions;
§ Bachelor’s degree, required;
§ CFA and/or MBA, preferred.
