Position Description
Position Summary
The Vice President of Innovation is responsible for driving innovation and leading transformative initiatives across the organization. This role focuses on developing and implementing forward-thinking strategies, identifying emerging trends, and leveraging new technologies to foster growth and advancement. The Vice President of Innovation plays a critical role in cultivating a culture of creativity and continuous improvement, while shaping the organization's long-term strategic direction.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement innovation strategies aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends to drive business growth and efficiency.
- Lead cross-functional teams to design and execute innovative projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate innovation into business planning and decision-making processes.
- Establish and manage partnerships with external stakeholders, including startups, research institutions, and industry experts.
- Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and market opportunities to inform innovation strategy.
- Develop metrics and KPIs to assess the impact and success of innovation initiatives.
- Oversee research and development efforts, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Promote and facilitate ideation sessions and workshops to generate new product and service ideas.
- Manage the innovation budget, allocating resources effectively to prioritize high-impact projects.
- Communicate innovation strategy and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor and develop talent within the organization to build a strong innovation capability.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards throughout the innovation process.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have:
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role focused on innovation, product development, or strategic change.
- Strong track record of driving innovation and executing transformative strategies in a dynamic business environment.
- Advanced degree in Business Administration, Innovation Management, or a related field. MBA or equivalent is preferred.
- Excellent understanding of emerging technologies, market trends, and competitive landscape.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of innovation and collaboration across diverse teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex projects.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in managing budgets, resources, and strategic investments to support innovation initiatives.
- Ability to lead and mentor a diverse team of professionals to achieve organizational goals.
- Strong decision-making capabilities, with a focus on data-driven and customer-centric solutions.
- Proven ability to navigate and influence within a matrixed organization.
- Experience in change management and facilitating organizational transformation.
- Strong network within the innovation and startup ecosystem is a plus.

Work Environment
Physical demands: | The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with clients, vendors and staff. Overnight travel may be required from time to time.
