Position Overview and Responsibilities
OMRF's Office of Technology Ventures (OTV) is seeking a mission-driven Technology Transfer Associate to support the advancement of innovative research discoveries into real-world solutions that benefit society. Preparation, negotiation, and follow-through to execution of material transfer, data use, non-disclosure, and other agreements will be key responsibilities in this role. This role will identify emerging technologies by regularly engaging with principal investigators and attending their seminars. This role supports the OTV in managing compliance of the invention reporting requirements of externally funded research and in ensuring that intellectual property developed within OMRF is identified, protected, responsibly managed, and translated into products, services, or partnerships that align with our public-interest mission. The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and passionate about bridging research and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare material transfer and non-disclosure agreements
- Communicate in a timely manner and collaborate with researchers to enhance customer service
- Assist in technology scouting and educate researchers on intellectual property policies, compliance requirements, and best practices
- Review and evaluate invention disclosures from researchers
- Assess scientific merit and potential societal and commercial impact of invention disclosed
- Conduct market research and landscape analyses to identify potential partners or funding opportunities
- Develop commercialization and dissemination strategies, including preparation of marketing materials, consistent with OMRF's mission
- Assist in the formation of mission-aligned and strategic partnerships
- Maintain accurate records of agreements and related correspondence
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, legal studies or a related field required; advanced degree (MS, PhD, JD, MBA) preferred
- 1 year of experience in technology transfer, intellectual property, research administration, or related field
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office products. General experience with databases required
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to interpret scientific data and assess market potential
- Maintains ethical judgment and stewardship of confidential information
- Strong organizational and project management skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Collaborative mindset with ability to work with diverse stakeholders
- Works effectively both independently and in cross functional teams and brings a proactive, mission-driven work ethic
- Maintains a high level of reliability and professionalism while managing deadlines and priorities in a dynamic environment
- Willing to travel as needed (around 4% of the time)
Work Hours
Monday-Friday from 8:30AM to 5:00PM, however, hours may vary slightly depending on workload.
