About the Role:Grade Level (for internal use):

The Role: This role supports the GL Controls Manager by providing monitoring, oversight, and execution of key General Ledger controls activities throughout the monthly close. The Specialist will help ensure that journal workflows, reconciliations, suspense activities, and interfaces are functioning effectively-while maintaining compliance with corporate policies, audit requirements, and SOX controls.
The Team: Be part of a Global Record to Report (R2R) organization and collaborate across:
- Domestic and international retained staff, third parties, and offshore partners
- All global business units, Technology teams, and the Controller's organization
- Intercompany, Business Finance, Controllers, AP, and OTC teams
Monthly Close Monitoring & Oversight (Daily during close):
- Monitor the GL Journal Approval Pending report and follow up for timely approvals
- Monitor the Suspense Account Analysis report and drive timely resolution
- Monitor the Unposted (Journal in Progress) report and perform review/analysis
- Monitor the External Interface report to ensure successful upstream/downstream processing
- Perform Treasury to Oracle GL rate verification analysis
- Assist with uploading Oracle General Ledger manual journals during critical close days (Oracle Fusion)
- Provide guidance to journal preparers on journal preparation and error analysis
- Assist in reviews for accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned.
- Perform assigned GL controls reconciliations and complete within reconciliation deadlines
- Partner closely with Business Finance/Controller's teams to ensure reconciliations meet reconciliation policy requirements
- Coordinate with account owners to clear reconciling items on a timely basis and provide audit support related to reconciliations
- Proactively identify aging items and drive closure, escalating risks/issues as needed
- Support internal and external audit requests related to Oracle General Ledger controls
- Work closely with the technical team to confirm GL controls are functioning and support testing for Oracle enhancements/projects
- Ensure adherence to accounting, audit, and systems controls and procedures in compliance with corporate policies and SOX controls
- Work independently with strong ownership and accountability; understand when to escalate issues
- Multi-task effectively in a fast-paced close environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
- Communicate clearly (written and verbal) with global stakeholders and third parties across levels
- Provide backfill coverage and support to other accountants in the team
- May take a leading role in projects/initiatives, including automation and Lean Six Sigma efforts (Lean Six Sigma).
- 2+ years of accounting and reconciliation experience (required)
- College-level accounting degree/MBA/InterCA (preferred)
- Experience with Oracle Fusion and system maintenance (preferred).
- Working knowledge of reconciliation tools (experience with BlackLine, ARCS or any tool.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate globally with internal and external customers
- Comfort working with offshore partners and across time zones
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve issues timely and efficiently while ensuring SOX compliance
- Proactive follow-up mindset; ability to manage heavy workload, shifting priorities, and deadlines.
- Location: Ahmedabad, India
- Primary Shift: EMEA shift (2:00 PM - 11:00 PM IST)
- Flexibility Requirement: Must be able to switch to US working hours as needed, based on business requirements, close schedule, and support coverage. Overtime may be required when there is a strong business need.
