The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation is seeking an accomplished investment leader to step into a senior, high-impact role at the centre of its long-term investment program. As Director, Public Market Investments and Private Credit, you will help steward capital that supports more than 13,500 teachers across Saskatchewan and underpins a durable public mandate built on trust, discipline, and strong governance. This is not a passive oversight role. The Role
Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Director leads STF’s public equity, fixed income, and private credit portfolios, with accountability for strategy development, manager oversight, internal mandates, and transaction execution. Equally important, the Director provides leadership to a skilled team of investment professionals, setting direction, building bench strength, and fostering a thoughtful, high-performance culture grounded in accountability and continuous improvement.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a seasoned investment professional with institutional judgment, strong analytical depth, and the confidence to operate effectively in a governance-intensive environment. You are commercially astute yet disciplined in execution, able to communicate complex investment concepts with clarity, and motivated by stewardship rather than short-term results.
You value organizations with purpose, integrity, and a long-term horizon, and you are energized by the opportunity to leave a meaningful leadership imprint while developing people and systems that endure.
Qualifications Snapshot
The successful candidate will bring:
- A degree in finance, economics, or a related discipline, with a master’s degree or professional designation such as MBA, CFA, or CPA considered an asset.
- 10 or more years of progressive experience in investment management, portfolio management, investment banking, or institutional consulting.
- Demonstrated experience across public equities and fixed income, ideally including direct investment or oversight of in-house mandates.
- A strong understanding of institutional governance, risk management, and committee-based decision-making.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop investment professionals, set strategic direction, and execute with discipline.
- Exceptional communication skills and sound judgment, with the credibility to engage senior leaders and investment committees.
Location
This role is ideally based in Saskatoon, a vibrant river city known for its quality of life, cultural depth, and access to year-round outdoor recreation. STF has a strong preference for an on-site leadership presence and supports flexibility and professional discretion, with hybrid arrangements considered where required.
