Leidos Defense is seeking a forward-thinking Director of Material Project Management in Huntsville, AL. This role will report directly to the Vice President of Defense Sector Supply Chain and will manage a team of Material Project Managers and Material Planners that support critical defense programs. The successful candidate will lead a team of material “solution architects”, standardize sector wide “demand-to-fulfillment” operating rhythm, manage resource efficiencies, and support critical program material strategy/operations from proposal strategy through execution and fulfillment. Position will require close collaboration with program management, business area and sector leadership, manufacturing, procurement and suppliers. The position will focus on driving efficiencies through consistent material project management across Defense programs, including supplier management, material coordination, risk mitigation, and Control Account Management (CAM).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead Material Project Management/Material Planning team and material strategy development across priority programs and capture pursuits, aligning with Sector growth objectives and customer needs.
- Drive efficiencies through consistent material project management across Defense programs, including supplier management, material coordination, risk mitigation, and Control Account Management (CAM).
- Strengthen stakeholder engagement with program and manufacturing leadership to ensure alignment and collaboration.
- Manage escalations across programs and manufacturing to resolve critical issues effectively.
- Provide managerial oversight and direct involvement in resolving Supply Chain issues and material cost/schedule problems for key programs.
- Lead team of suppliers and internal staff in collaboratively solving problems in Sourcing Strategy, Cost/Value Engineering, Affordability, and Technical Solutions.
- Monitor and report performance of suppliers and subcontractor deliverables to program schedule requirements.
-Develop strategy for proactive identifying supplier risk, mitigation strategy and communication to program management and sector leadership team.
- Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure alignment in support of program success.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 12+years in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Operations, or technical related field. MBA or MS and 10+ years of related experience.
- Manufacturing Background with experience in Procurement, Logistics, Supplier Management, and Project Management/Planning.
- Strong knowledge of Supply Chain and related systems along with material procurement
- Experience with Earned Value Management process for materials
- Demonstrated experience interfacing across multiple organizations and program and customer levels with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Ability to work under tight time constraints
- Knowledge of customer flow-through requirements such as FAR, ITAR, OFFSET, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and public law
- Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain DoW security clearance.
- Some travel may be required up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in manufacturing, production control/planning, inventory planning, coordination, and tracking a plus
-Previous experience leading and standardizing responsibilities of a Material Project Management team
-PMP, Supply Chain Engineering, HW/SW Maintenance Planning, Earned Value Management, and Proposal Volume Authorship Experience
-Strong understanding of US Government acquisition laws and regulations (FAR)
-PowerBI or equivalent experience preferred
-Deltek Costpoint Materials Module Experience

Pay Range:
Pay Range $130,000.00 - $235,000.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
