What You Will Do
- Apply advanced data analysis techniques to evaluate and develop cost optimization strategies across University units.
- Monitor, maintain, and report on the University's Position Control System. Train fiscal employees on the system and ensure accurate salary reporting.
- Serve as liaison, along with the Assistant Director of Budget and Analytics, between the University Budget and Analytics Office and Budget Directors for each Vice Chancellor area.
- Assist individual departments and schools with budgetary questions and guidance on new processes.
- Share responsibility for the University budget, including preparation, analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
- Analyze financial projections and prepare a variety of financial analyses.
- Assist in preparing responses to data requests from the SIU President's Office, SIUE Chancellor, IBHE, and the Illinois State Legislature.
- Collaborate closely with the Assistant Director and Director of Budget and Analytics, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Budget and Finance, Vice Chancellor area budget staff, and other SIUE administrative staff.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR MBA with an emphasis in Finance, or current registration as a CPA, CMA, valid license to practice Public Accounting.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional-level accounting experience in budgeting, including planning, developing, monitoring, and reporting.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience using Microsoft Excel to produce analytical and written reports.
- Experience with Microsoft Access required.
- Experience with analytics software such as Power BI and AI tools such as CoPilot preferred.
- Prior experience developing and maintaining financial models and dashboards preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; self-starter who identifies areas for improvement and implements better processes.
