SIU Carbondale's Office of Information Technology is growing its capabilities! We support the business needs of Higher Education at SIU, our President's Office, and our Foundation and Alumni Association offices, as well as our other system campuses at Springfield (SIU School of Medicine) and Edwardsville. To achieve this, we manage a variety of legacy and contemporary tools and services and are committed to upgrading our delivery of services through continuous improvement.
The Analyst II will play a key role in supporting SIU's Student Information System (SIS) by researching and resolving issues reported by campus administrative offices, collaborating with development teams and software support to meet business objectives. This position is responsible for performing unit and regression testing on new and existing applications, providing training and documentation during implementations, and working closely with project coordinators, IT, and business offices to design efficient technological solutions. The Analyst II ensures consistent practices to maintain system integrity and supports other duties as assigned, contributing to the reliability and effectiveness of SIS in meeting university needs.

Examples of Duties
This person will be required to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
a. (30%) Researches problems reported by the campus administrative offices and identify
solutions. Works closely with the development team and software support as required to meet
the business objectives;
b. (25%) Performs unit and/or regression testing of new and/or existing applications and
solutions;
c. (25%) Provides training and documentation to business offices during implementation of
new applications and/or solutions;
d. (10%) Collaborates with Project Coordinators, Information Technology, and business
offices to design technological solutions that efficiently and effectively support the
University's business objectives;
e. (5%) Ensures that consistent practices are followed to maintain the integrity of the system;
f. (5%) Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories:
- College course work which includes Information Systems Technologies (IST), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Programming, IT Management, or business-related discipline, including coursework in application development, programming, or database technologies, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
- Work experience in application development, application support, or business analysis.
- This experience can be concurrent with the qualifications listed above and concurrent with one another.
- Must possess 6 months or more of experience in SQL (Oracle, Microsoft, Sybase, and/or MySQL).
- Must possess knowledge of SQL Database Administration, application development, or ERP configuration (Banner, EBS, Colleague, PeopleSoft, SAP, Workday, Jenzabar, etc).
- College course work which includes Information Systems Technologies (IST), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Programming, IT Management, or business-related discipline, including coursework in application development, programming, or database technologies, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

About Civil Service Examination/Testing: The Civil Service examination for this classification is based on your application materials and responses to the supplemental questions. No participation other than submission of application materials is required from applicants that qualify to take the exam. If you meet the minimum required qualifications for this position, your application will move forward for examination/testing in which you will receive a score calculated based on your education and experience, and your name will be placed on the active employment register by exam score. This score will be emailed to the email address noted on your application. After the application deadline, the names within the top three scores will be referred to the department for interview.
