Job Purpose:

Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach MBUS 618: Tribal Seminar 1 in the MBA-American Indian Entrepreneurship (MBA-AIE) Program. This course provides graduate students with practical, professional perspectives on contemporary issues affecting Native American businesses, tribal enterprises, and tribal governments.

The successful candidate will bring substantial professional experience in Indian Country, demonstrated expertise in one or more areas central to tribal business and governance (such as taxation, economic development, gaming, federal contracting, access to capital, or tribal operations), and the ability to engage students through case-based discussion, guest speakers, and applied learning. The instructor will foster an inclusive environment that honors Indigenous knowledge systems while preparing students for leadership roles in tribal and Native-serving organizations. The successful candidate will also have the enthusiasm, classroom presence and skills to engage students and should be committed to pursuing excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will be fully responsible for course planning, delivering class sessions, creating and collecting assignments, submitting grades, and be available to students for office hours for one hour per week (or more if needed depending on the course, program and department). Course Description
MBUS 618: Tribal Seminar 1 examines ongoing challenges and opportunities in Native American business, tribal enterprise management, and tribal government operations. Topics include tribal taxation, economic development strategies, gaming operations, access to capital, federal contracting, leadership in Indian Country, and human resources/operations management. Students engage with literature, current reports, and guest speakers, culminating in a final project that applies course concepts to their own community, tribe, or workplace.

• Prepare, plan and teach assigned course/s - (Essential)
• Hold office hours (amount determined in consultation with Department Chair) - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications:

-Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Law, or a closely related field
-Professional experience (5+ years) in tribal government, tribal enterprise management, Native American economic development, or related sectors in Indian Country
-Demonstrated expertise in multiple topic areas covered in the course (e.g., tribal taxation, gaming, federal contracting, economic development, access to capital)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Enrollment or affiliation with a federally recognized tribe
• Executive or senior leadership experience in tribal government or tribal business enterprise
• Prior teaching or training experience in academic, professional, or community settings
• Established professional network enabling recruitment of guest speakers with relevant expertise
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness and ability to respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds
• Experience using inclusive pedagogies that honor Indigenous ways of knowing
