ICS is seeking a strategic, hands-on Senior Director of Finance & Administration to lead the organization’s finance and accounting operations and provide oversight of Human Resources, Administration, and IT. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role partners closely with senior leadership and provides key staff support to the Finance Committees of the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, donation processing, and in-kind recording; ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable state and federal requirements.
Lead monthly and year-end close; record complex accounting transactions and journal entries.
Maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and procedures; ensure consistent coding and reporting in the financial system.
Direct organizational financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and cash management.
Prepare and present monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting for the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
Manage required financial reporting to government funding agencies, foundations, and other funders; support grant budgeting and review.
Oversee annual CPA audit and single audit process and coordinate tax filings.
Manage banking relationships; oversee endowment management and reporting in coordination with the investment advisor.
Review contracts and leases for financial and compliance requirements; monitor, maintain, and negotiate leases as needed.
Oversee Human Resources functions (hiring, onboarding, benefits, certifications, background checks, compliance with labor standards).
Oversee administrative operations including procurement, vendor management, office space/utilization, maintenance, and security.
Manage relationship with external IT vendor and ensure IT assets are appropriately managed.
Participate in senior leadership and strategic planning; contribute to a strong organizational culture through training and staff engagement.
Requirements
Required
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
Minimum 8 years of experience in public or private accounting, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience in accounting/finance/business management (including IT oversight).
Strong knowledge of GAAP (nonprofit accounting experience/knowledge preferred).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Proficiency with accounting systems (MIP Fund Accounting or similar), Excel, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to pass a background check.
Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona Level 1 fingerprint clearance.
Ability to maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license, reliable transportation, clean driving record, and current auto insurance.
