Description

The School of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is currently accepting applications for the position of Senior Associate Dean, Curriculum. The Senior Associate Dean of Curriculum provides leadership and oversight for the Office of Curriculum under the direction of the Vice Dean for the School of Medicine. Baylor's accelerated, integrated approach to teaching the core scientific concepts that underlie medicine and our exceptionally diverse clinical training opportunities combine to create a curriculum that prepares our students for success.

The Baylor College of Medicine School of Medicine (BCM SOM) has a current enrollment of approximately 744 students, including MD/MPH, MD/JD, MD/PhD, and MD/MBA dual degree programs. BCM SOM is entering a period of growth with the development of a new regional campus in Temple Texas (the Baylor College of Medicine Temple Campus), made possible by strong relationships with health system partners in the region. The BCM SOM has strong local relationships with affiliates including two robust academic health systems, a regional children’s hospital, and a Veteran’s Affairs hospital. BCM SOM also sponsors 107 residency and fellowship programs accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (30 ACGME Residency Programs, 77 ACGME Fellowship Programs) and 74 Texas Medical Board approved fellowship programs. There are approximately 1600 active GME residents and fellows.

Requirements

  • M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience as an Associate Dean Curriculum (Foundational, Clinical, or overall)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with medical student education at an LCME-accredited US medical school
  • Five or more years of experience with medical student education, including curricular innovation and accreditation oversight
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness in leadership and possess the ability to work with a varied group of educators and stakeholders
  • Previous experience in medical student curriculum development and oversight with an emphasis in such areas as quality improvement, interprofessional education, teamwork, and maintaining excellence in the learning environment
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills including the ability to lead and work on a team
