Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) is seeking a highly analytical and detail‑oriented Business Strategy Consultant to support high‑impact strategic and financial decisions. This role acts as an internal advisor, providing advanced financial modeling, complex physician compensation analysis, and decision support for major initiatives-including), compensation structures, key contract negotiations terms, decision support, and broader corporate strategy work.
The Consultant operates as an independent contributor and engages directly with physicians, executives, and cross‑functional leaders. Prior consulting experience and strong communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation & Financial Modeling
Build and refine complex financial and compensation models supporting contract terms, physician compensation structures, productivity incentives, and strategic arrangements.
Utilize FMV assessments, market benchmarking, and scenario modeling to evaluate program design and contract sustainability.
Develop compensation models for new or evolving programs, ensuring alignment with organizational and financial objectives.
Perform financial due diligence and valuation analyses for potential group hiring, including scenario, synergy, and integration modeling.
Contract Analytics & Negotiation Support
Analyze and summarize key contract terms to inform negotiations and identify financial or operational risks.
Translate complex model outputs into clear, actionable insights for leaders overseeing contract strategy.
Support negotiation preparations with concise financial summaries, alternatives, and decision frameworks.
Decision Support & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a subject‑matter resource on contract modeling and compensation structures.
Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, physicians, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
Engage directly with physicians to gather inputs, clarify compensation structures, and validate assumptions.
Partner with Finance, FP&A, Data Analytics, and Strategy teams to integrate volume, cost, and compensation data into models.
Maintain and update models to reflect changes in business assumptions, contract terms, or performance results.
Monitor outcomes of executed contracts and acquisitions against projections, highlighting key variances and implications.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related analytical field.
4+ years of experience in financial analysis, corporate finance, or management consulting with emphasis on complex modeling.
Advanced Excel skills, including scenario modeling and scalable model design.
Strong understanding of healthcare financial dynamics, including provider compensation and healthcare contract structures.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts to non‑financial audiences.
Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and engage directly with physicians and senior stakeholders.
Preferred:
Prior consulting experience (internal or external).
Experience with health systems or large multispecialty medical groups.
Background in PSA or contract modeling, FMV assessments, M&A, or due diligence.
Familiarity with financial planning and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Advanced degree (MBA, MHA) or relevant certification (CFA, CPA).
