Reporting to the Director of Industry Contracting, the Research Contract Associate is responsible for the initiation, review, and negotiation of Industry-funded Sponsored Research Agreements, Industry-funded Clinical Trial Agreements, Confidential Disclosure Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Data Use Agreements, Unfunded Research Collaboration Agreements and other forms of research related agreements. This position will work collaboratively with a wide range of internal stakeholders including the Office of the General Counsel, Office of Technology Development, the Institutional Biosafety Committee, and the Institutional Review Board. This position will also work closely with our faculty and an array of industry and non-industry sponsors and collaborators to ensure timely processing of agreements and awards. This role contributes to the development and implementation of streamlined processes and communication strategies to be responsive to an active and growing line of the University's research enterprise.

 Areas of Responsibility

 Reviews and revises agreements, statements of work, research budgets, contract terms and conditions

  • Performs proposal submission review and contract negotiation activities
  • Interfaces with Principal Investigators, Office of Sponsored Programs, Post Award Financial Operations, and external sponsors as necessary to ensure contract compliance and appropriate handling of contractual liabilities and responsibilities; serves as an internal and external liaison for compliance and issue resolution
  • Provides data management services and support to assist in teams workflow management and internal and external communications
  • Assists Director of Industry Contracts and the Associate Vice President for Industry Engagement with special projects that require fluency with internal operations, professional judgement, and business acumen; researches and advises on complex issues and provides recommendations for resolution.


Requirements

  • BA/BS and a minimum of 5 -7 years of prior related contractual experience required; prior related contractual experience in a university setting preferred
  • Strong communication and analytical skills (verbal and written)
  • Comprehensive experience in subject matter
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or JD preferred.
